Artist Residency Photo Gallery

Last Fall I was selected to be an Artist Roster with ArtsWestchester, a not for profit program organization that supports the arts throughout Westchester County by funding artist residencies in local schools and community centers. I was fortunate to be chosen to do an artist residency at the Westchester Hills School 29 in Yonkers this Spring. I collaborated with the school's guidance counselor on a residency that combined self-esteem issues and collage. I would like to share the girl's work with you!

Kappa Delta Pi Ceremony

On May 5th I was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, an International Honor Society in Education at Manhattanville College, Purchase, NY. I feel that being a member of Kappa Delta Pi is an honor, and I know that this organization will be a great resource to me throughout my teaching career.

"Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education, founded by Dr. William Bagley in 1911 at the University of Illinois, was established to foster excellence in education and promote fellowship among those dedicated to teaching...."

Artist Residency: Tissue Paper Collage

Using tissue paper and Modge Podge, the girls in the artist residency created unique tissue paper collages that reflected their personalities. Some girls used solid colors while others chose patterns. One girl used color to guide her design. Two girls twisted and crumpled the tissue paper to create dimension. Some girls talked and playfully teased each other as they worked. A few girls were quiet and stayed focused on the task at hand. Today's class completes the 4th week of a six week residency.

This artist residency is funded by a grant from ArtsWestchester.
